Non-Verbal Communication

In chapter our text book there is a section that is called "The Nature of Nonverbal Communincation", it talks about how nonverbal communication can be intentional or unintentional. Nonverbal communication encompasses a variety of actions, such as gestures, tone of voice, and eye behavior as well as physcial apperenace(O'Hair, D., Wiemann, M., Mullin, D. I., & Tevern, J. (2018).

The sitcom that I chosed to review is Mr. Bean, I remembered as a child how I just loved to watch this show. It was very intenterating even though Mr. Bean has never said a word.

In this 35 minute sitcom, you will see different senerio's that Mr. Bean been on. He displays many nonverbal cues as well as body language. His body language is very intentional for the situation that he is in. Even the people around him, you can also pick up their feelings, such as frustration, irritation, and even curisoity.
With this video you can watch it with or without sound. You will still get the same cues and the urge to continue to watch to see what happens next. When watching it with sound you just get the reaction from the audience that makes the experience even more enjoyable.

  1. Hi Takeisha, thank you so much for sharing. I too remember watching Mr. Bean and Benny Hill with my dad when I was a child. It's funny to see the change of comedy shows over the years and how we don't see this type of performance with a lack of dialogue anymore. However, you can still enjoy and pick up on peoples body language while viewing this style of comedy. It reminds me of the classic Tom and Jerry cartoons where all you would see is the misadventures of a cat in mouse who would also very rarely if ever have any dialogue. Yet, the viewer still understood the relationship and plot of the show.
