The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

One hope that you have when you think about working with children and families who come from diverse backgrounds.

One hope that I have when working with children and families with diverse backgrounds, is that I can build a positive relationship with the child and the family. I am hoping that I can accommodate the similitaries as well as the differences we may have.

One goal you would like to set for the early childhood field related to issues of diversity, equity, and social justice.

A goal that I will like to set for the early childhood field is that their need to be more interactive training that will help the teachers to come up with hands on activities that deals with diversity within the classroom.

To all my classmates thank you for the great conversation and feedback during this class. I have learned so much from each one of you as usual. For the ones that this is our first interaction, thank you for opening up some of your personal life and for the positive feedback. I look forward to enteracting with you in the next class.

  4. Hello Takeisha,
These past 8 weeks have been quite a journey of self-discovery and reflection as we learned so much more on how to support children and families from diverse cultures and uncovered hidden biases, then learned of our own privileges that we may not have realized we had. I agree that building a positive relationship is vital while interacting with children and their families. With this new knowledge, I have no doubt you will succeed in reaching your goals. Best of luck as you continue in your classes.
