Personal Research Journey
Why is Play Important? And How Children and Families Bonds Through Play
For this class, I have decided to do my research on "Play". I chose this topic, due to it relates with what I do everyday. I work in an NC Prek program. This program targets at risk children and families. We use the creative curriculum and it is also play based, meaning that the children are learning through play. Before the COVID pandemic, I have done many parent involvement activities inside the classroom. These activities that were conducted in the classroom were activities that had the children and parents working together or playing to get the desired outcome. What I found challenging about this research is just finding enough information that has different points of view. I guess that is a good thing that the articles touch mostly on the same source or information. It just means that I have to become more creative in the questions that I am asking or looking for. An website that I have been doing some research through is Naeyc. During my research through other class assignments, I found that play, has been one of the focus in other countries as well, especially those who are in poverty cities/ countries. Hopefully during the next few weeks I will have new and interesting information to share with you.
Takeisha, play is a great research topic. There are many articles on the importance that play has in the development of every domain for children. I am sure you will be able to find all the information you seek. NAEYC is a significant source to start with. Here are two resources I have used.
