Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: National/ Federal Level

Teachers has the responsibility to make change in the world, either positively or negatively we will have an impact. The type of impact will depend on us and the way that we see people as a whole in the world. The three organizations that I have chosen to research are the Onslow County Public Library, NAEYC, and Children Defense Fund.

The children's defense fund leave no child behind, their mission is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage and communities.
There were no job positions for what I have found, but it did have places where you can donate to the defense fund.

The Onslow County Public Library (OCPL)
Mission
The mission of the (OPCL) is to provide quality materials and services that fulfill educational, informational, and cultural needs of all citizens in a welcoming and stimulating atmosphere.
Vision
(OPCL) is an essential community resource: offering free and open access to information. Creating opportunities for lifelong learning. Promoting cultural awareness and enriching the quality of life. Leading in personal service research and technology.

There were no job opportunities available related to the field of interest.

NAEYC Workplace Philosophy
Naeyc believes high-performing organizations are inclusive and continually seek to be enriched and strengthened by the wisdom of diversity.

The jobs that were available were chief executive officer, finance, marketing and membership. None of these jobs would interest me. I tend to see myself volunteering in the areas that are more personal and interacting with the different people, families and children.

Mission Statement
NAEYC promotes high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. We advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community

I have chosen these three based on the work that these organizations do within the community. One of the organizations I am involved in One Place, I am a teacher in the NCPrek/ Three School Program, that helps at risk children and families. One Place also provides education for parents/ families as well as education for teachers and home childcare providers. I was introduced to the united way of onslow county by my co-teacher she raved about what they represent and as I read about them, I can see why. The last one is Triple P- Positive Parenting Program and this program as well is new to me. My co-teacher also sent me to this site so I can see all the positive things that goes on with this program.
I was always raised to help others that need help. To not pity them but to help them accomplish goals they may have. So, through my life I have always participated in activities for the communities and the nursing homes.  Below is the the three organizations that I have researched and a summary of their purpose.

United Way of Onslow County is a locally based organization dedicated to strengthening lives, helping people, and improving community conditions in our local community. They convenu and collaborate with partners from across the community non-profits, government, business, volunteers- to create opportunities for a better life for Onslow County's most vulnerable residents. They support community programs and initiatives that helps those in need and also prevent problems from happening in the first place (United Way of Onslow County).

Our preschool programs serve more than 700 children in both public and private sites annually. Through planned activities and play, children engage in critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork in a warm, safe, and culturally aware environment. Teachers partner with parents to support each child's individual development, encourage social-development, and school readiness. One place collaborates with Onslow County Schools (OCS) to ensure a smooth transition into kindergarten. Giving children a strong educational foundation today sets them up for a lifetime of success.

Triple-P- Positive Parenting Program
Triple P is a parenting program, but it doesn't tell you how to be a parent. It is more like a toolbox of ideas.

Triple P helps you:

  1.  Raise happy, confident kids
  2.  Manage misbehavior so everyone in the family enjoys life more
  3.  Set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
  4.  Encourage behavior you like
  5.  Take care of yourself as a parent
  6.  Feel confident you’re doing the right thing
