Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: National/ Federal Level

Teachers has the responsibility to make change in the world, either positively or negatively we will have an impact. The type of impact will depend on us and the way that we see people as a whole in the world. The three organizations that I have chosen to research are the Onslow County Public Library, NAEYC, and Children Defense Fund.

The children's defense fund leave no child behind, their mission is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage and communities.
There were no job positions for what I have found, but it did have places where you can donate to the defense fund.

The Onslow County Public Library (OCPL)
Mission
The mission of the (OPCL) is to provide quality materials and services that fulfill educational, informational, and cultural needs of all citizens in a welcoming and stimulating atmosphere.
Vision
(OPCL) is an essential community resource: offering free and open access to information. Creating opportunities for lifelong learning. Promoting cultural awareness and enriching the quality of life. Leading in personal service research and technology.

There were no job opportunities available related to the field of interest.

NAEYC Workplace Philosophy
Naeyc believes high-performing organizations are inclusive and continually seek to be enriched and strengthened by the wisdom of diversity.

The jobs that were available were chief executive officer, finance, marketing and membership. None of these jobs would interest me. I tend to see myself volunteering in the areas that are more personal and interacting with the different people, families and children.

Mission Statement
NAEYC promotes high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. We advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

  1. Hello!
I have never actually heard of the Children's Defense Fund but thank you for introducing me to this organization. I believe the mission statement you provided aligns with my community of practice in that their purpose is to ensure no child is left behind, and I am striving to align with organizations that would benefit black children so that they may have opportunities for success in the early childhood world. It is important to find organizations like this one that want to create equal opportunities for all children and I look forward to exploring this organization more.

  2. Hi Takeisha, those are all great organizations. I also choose NAEYC because of their long history of early childhood education, current policies and trends and issues, and the many resources the have available.I use the Onslow County Library religiously for community resources and events to pass on the information to families, and checking out children's books that go with my lesson plan. I choose Save the Children because they have an abundance of programs that benefit children, families and communities. Good luck on you continued capstone study.
